The Texas Paw Party

Texas Paw Party began initially in a small parking lot in Old Town Spring in 2001 as a way of Shelly Smith's shop, Different Strokes Pet Boutique, to give back to the pet lovers and rescue groups who supported her shop. It grew over time and became a town event under another name.

Our goal has always been 4-fold:

1. Education: Educating the public about breeds/types of animals so that they adopt the right pet for their family and lifestyle. Also to educate the public about different animal related services/service organization that they may have not been aware of.

2. Fundraising: Taking proper care of the animals entrusted to the rescue groups/shelters takes a lot of money for vet bills, general supplies/housing, training, etc. We do fundraising all year round and give 100% of the money back to the rescue groups through a drawing on Sunday of the event. We have done a Craft Beer, Wine and Dine with your canine event in the fall and our biggest fundraiser is our raffle drawing. We also have various types of fundraising at the event including our rescue "jail" and a photo op booth. We also encourage the groups to do their own fundraising at the event.

3. Adoptions/Fostering: Texas Paw Party is a great place to find that new family member because you are also allowed to bring your current furry family members so that they can meet a possible adoptee in a safe and neutral area. Not all groups adopt on site but you can meet the animals available for adoption, find out more about them and fill out applications. You can also learn about all the different breeds there are to choose from and what their personality types are like. This is also a great place to give back to the rescue community by becoming a foster. Without fosters, the groups and shelters could not help as many animals as they do and they are always needing more!

4. This is a free fun family event! Bring the 2 and 4-legged kids out for a weekend to enjoy!
